TxDOT Look Twice Save a Life/Share the Road
Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month Kickoff
TxDOT is urging motorists to Share the Road and Look Twice for Motorcycles and is staging a photo opportunity for media to kick off this year's campaign. For the last two years it has been held in Austin. This is a great opportunity for US to "bring it home" to our local cagers as well as those across the state! TxDOT is especially asking for 20+ "Big Flag Bike" volunteers to join Killeen Police on a short ride on Killeen streets and staged for media cameras. The "Big Flag Bike" volunteers will be asked to attach a flag to their motorcycle that are emblazoned with "Look Twice, Share the Road."
ANY/ALL riders are invited to participate, whether you have "Big Flag" mounts or not! We are asking that "Big Flag Bike" volunteers contact the Ride Captain listed below so that TxDOT has an idea of how many of their flags to bring for the riders to fly (see notes below).

2. “Big Flag Bikes” Please RSVP to Amanda on this thread or at a POC listed below if you have a big flag bike so we can make sure to have a "look Twice" flag provided for you.
2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy.
This is a very important message to drivers, and we all know how important it is to get the message out. In 2013, 494 motorcycle riders died on Texas roads. That’s a significant increase from the 470 who died in 2012. We need those numbers to go down! Please join us, TxDOT, KPD, and the City of Killeen in kicking off this important message to the community and the State of Texas. We all know how much events like this mean!
