Sgt William Deforrest Kiel, US Army, Vietnam Veteran, Bronze Star Recipient X2, Originally of Plattsburg, NY
The daughter of Sergeant William Kiel has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Inurnment of her Loved One.
During his eleven years of service, William was in communications field and assigned to a RATT (Radio-Teletype) Rig. While in Vietnam he served in the following units as they were deactivated and reactivated under different commands: LRRP Detachment, HHC 1st Cavalry Division; Company E (LR), 52nd Infantry (ABN); Company H (Ranger), 75th Infantry (Abn); HHC Det. 10 (Ranger); and the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He received Two Bronze Stars, Two Air Medals, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Vietnam Campaign with 60 Device, and the Vietnam Service Medal with 11 Bronze Service Stars. William's daughter, Jessica, is here to attend the LRRP/RANGERS, 68th Annual 1st Cavalry Division Association Reunion being held this week at the Shilo Inn and has decided to have her father inurned during this time so his friends may attend.
