HONOR MISSION - Military Interment Service
SP4 Arnold A Swanson, Jr, 38, US Army, NEGLECTED Vietnam Veteran, OF Temple, TX

Specialist Swanson's grave in the Eddy Cemetery has been marked only with a stone with his name painted on it since his informal interment in 1989. A concerned individual took it upon herself to navigate a stubborn government bureaucracy to obtain and have a proper military grave marker placed on his gravesite. She, the City of Eddy, and Harper-Talasek Funeral Home have requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at Specialist Swanson's Proper Military Interment Service.

Temple Daily Telegram, June 14, 1989 - Arnold Swanson, Jr: Graveside service for Arnold A Arnold , 38, of 3320 Thorton Lane, Temple, will be at 10 AM Thursday in Eddy Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Henze and Dr. Rodney Bolejack officiating. He died Monday in Temple hospital. Mr Swanson was born in Detroit, Mich., Aug. 27, 1950, and attended school in Belton. He was a certified electrician and a Army Veteran of Vietnam. He was decorated by the U. S. Army with the National Defense Services Medal, Parachutist Badge, Vietnam Service Medal with one Campaign Star, Infantry Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and a Sharpshooter Badge. Survivors are his parents Mr & Mrs AA Swanson SR a son, Michael Swanson, and a sister.
