The family of Air Force Vietnam Veteran and Patriot Guard Rider "Bill" Olsen has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Pony Express Stop (Fri, 14 Oct) and Memorial Service (Sat, 15 Oct) of their Loved One.
Centex Portions are listed first, followed by a full itinerary for other areas of Texas. You are welcome to attend any/all portion(s). There is no obituary available.
Flagline Establishment: 1515 +/- We will emplace rebar to establish a static flagline since we are not sure exactly what time the OK/Olsen Party will arrive in Jarrell. Once they have topped off, eaten/rested and depart (1600 +/-), we will strike the flagline and depart.
WX: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the morning.

2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.

Setup & Briefing: At the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, be briefed and await arrival of the procession. Once they are spotted at the gate, we will man the flagline. (No flag setup as the shelter will be locked)
WX: Mostly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Mission Summary:
The North Texas PGR has been invited to stand a flag line to greet and render honors for a Vietnam Veteran and former Texas PGR Ride Captain (Austin) as his family escorts him for his “last ride” from Moore, Oklahoma, to Burnett, Texas. A flag line will be established and Riders will stand “tall and silent” as the procession arrives and then again as they depart after refueling. A certificate of appreciation will be presented to his family. Once the procession departs, flags will be returned to the support vehicle and riders will be dismissed.

Confirmed Mission: The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to participate in the funeral service for Derek "Bill" Olsen. Bill is a US Air Force and Vietnam veteran. He also served as one of the original Austin PGR ride captains until 2008.
This is a two part mission.
Part 1 is procession bearing Bill's remains leaving on Friday, 14 Oct from Moore, OK, at 8 am, eventually arriving at the VFW post in Burnet, TX at approx. 5 pm (could be earlier), where we will have a flag line waiting. Bill lived in Bertram and was an active member at this VFW post. The conclusion of Part 1 in Burnet is an Austin mission.
Part 2 is a ceremony honoring Bill's life which will take place at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery (CTSVC) in Killeen on Saturday, 15 Oct, at 3 pm. Part 2 is a Centex mission.
