SHORT NOTICE HONOR MISSION
LTC Forrest "Jim" French, 84, US Army, Retired, Vietnam Veteran, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Recipient, of Copperas Cove, TX


The family of Lieutenant Colonel Forrest Jim French has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Committal Services of their Loved One.

Jim received his degree from West Point in 1956. Also, in 1956, he graduated from Airborne and Ranger school. From 1957-1960, he was stationed in Germany at the 11th Airborne. Jim was an instructor of math at West Point from 1961-1964. He was part of the 11th Airborne in Korea in 1964. In 1967, he was an instructor at the English Language School at Lackland AFB. He fought in the Vietnam War with the 25th Infantry. In 1969, he was stationed at Fort Bragg with the 82nd Airborne/18th Airborne Corp. Jim was then stationed at Ft Hood, where he was at HQ master. After 20 years of service, Jim then retired in 1976 as a Lieutenant Colonel. His many medals include a Purple Heart, Bronze Star with one oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with one oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Army Commendation with Valor device and Combat Infantryman Badge. Flagline Establishment: 1025 +/- Once the Funeral Service begins; we will strike the flagline and prepare to participate in the procession.

Staging Time: 1205

Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.

WX: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 95. Southeast wind around 5 mph.

Notes:

1. Be at stagingS ON TIME.

2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
