SGT James Whitcomb Jr, 56, US Army, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm Veteran, OF Copperas Cove, TX


The family of Sergeant James Whitcomb Jr has requested the presence of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Committal Service of their Loved One.

James was in the US Army for eight and half years.. During James time in the Army he served time in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was awarded: National Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, two Good Conduct Awards, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Stars, Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle/M16 and Combat Infantry Badge. Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.

WX: A few clouds early, otherwise mostly sunny. High 97F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph.

Notes:

1. Be at staging ON TIME.

2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
