LT William "Bill" Shine, 80, US Army, Vietnam Veteran, of Killeen, TX


The family of Lieutenant William Shine has requested the presence and participation of the Patriot Guard Riders at the Funeral and Committal Services of their Loved One.

Bill served in the Army from 1967 to 1971 as an infantry officer, notably as the aide-de-camp for LTG James Hollingsworth. He served in the Vietnam War in the Air Cavalry in 1970, and his honorable service was awarded the Bronze Star and Air Medal. After his time in the Army, Bill continued to serve the community in various groups, including the Heart of Texas Defense Alliance, Fort Hood Chapter of the Association of the United States Army, and Friends of Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery. He was also a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army from 1991 to 2005 and continued serving the military whenever and wherever he could help. Briefing: 1215

Flagline Establishment: 1225 +/- Once the Funeral Service begins; we will strike the flagline and prepare to participate in the procession. All support vehicles will depart and restage at the cemetery.

Note: Be at staging ON TIME and TOPPED OFF.

Staging Location: The cul-de-sac between the Walk of Heroes and the Memorial Shelter at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 SH 195, Killeen, TX 76542 (http://tinyurl.com/CenTexVetsCeme)

Setup & Briefing: Upon clearance and at the direction of the Ride Captain, we will move to the shelter, set up the flags, be briefed and await arrival of the procession.

WX: A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 60. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Notes:

1. Be at stagingS ON TIME.

2. Hydrate well prior, bring water for yourself and a buddy and dress with consideration of the weather conditions.
